The Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL) in the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School invites applications for its postdoctoral fellowship in pharmaceutical law, policy, and health services research.
Applications are invited from researchers with doctoral degrees (J.D., M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., or equivalent) or who will complete such training by July 2025. Fellows will have an appointment at Harvard Medical School, receive close mentorship from faculty members in PORTAL and the Division, and engage in projects intended to start their careers in law or public health. Fellows have been successful in transitioning to jobs in academia (medicine, law, public health), government, and private practice. Fellows would begin in July 2025, with fellowship length varying depending on the candidate (1-year minimum, typically 2 years). Fellows are expected to be based in the Boston area for the duration of their fellowship.
Current and past PORTAL fellows have studied FDA regulation, patents, drug access and costs, and competition in the therapeutic marketplace. Other areas of focus include the relationship between intellectual property and drug costs and availability, ethical issues affecting the pharmaceutical market, drug comparative effectiveness, as well as the development, approval, and evidence-based use of drugs, devices, vaccines, and diagnostics. In addition to these topics, PORTAL is interested in fellows who want to focus on issues related to infectious diseases and antibiotic innovation, as part of an ongoing collaboration with the Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria Accelerator (CARB-X) at Boston University.
We are not currently accepting applications for postdoctoral fellows. Please check back later for updates.
